Due to Iceland's sparse population, shops, restaurants and other facilities are very few and far between once out of the capital region. As a result, gas stations are usually way more than the usual petrol station here. You might find anything from knitting materials to a comprehensive range of horseshoes!

Fancy a meal out? If you live in Iceland then you're only option within 100 miles might be the gas station and so that's where you and family might go to celebrate that special occasion! Many will sell hot dogs, pizza, reindeer burgers, etc and have an ice cream bar too.

It's maybe better to compare Icelandic gas stations with our motorway services. They are likewise expected to provide free toilets so we will have a map of the stations with us to save having to dig up half of Iceland (Deuteronomy 23:13).
