COST: £265 for flights, baggage, car hire AND 3 nights HOSTEL accommodation. Drive through the night on last day?

2017 cost was £760 for flights, baggage and car hire. If we're not camping then can use 2 bags instead of 3. We can also get a smaller car which saves a lot. Deduct camping fees from hostel cost and it's only a little more. There will also be a HUGE time saving in putting up tents, blowing up mats, putting down tents, packing up and squeezing everything back into the car.

Hostels will also be better equipped for loos and showers!

HOSTEL COSTS Between £115 and £150 for a private room for 4. Cost each would be between £28 and £35 per night. So about £100 for 3 nights accommodation?

PLAN The downside of hostels is that they really need to be booked well in advance. This means we have to make a plan and stick to it.

In our last trip we explored the west of Iceland. This time we could explore the north and east. In September, the mountain roads will be open. Instead of driving around the ring road, we can cut through the interior on the F35 Kjolur route. We then work our way clockwise around Iceland.
