This page will be updated a lot so keep checking back.
SHOPPING TIME!!!
BREAKFAST
- I will be having these for breakfast
- Derek recommends these if you like porridge.
- If you want a hot breakfast then just heat these in hot water for 10 minutes. A bit more at £1.80 but cheaper than anything you'd buy in Iceland.
LUNCH
- We will be able to buy lunch on Sunday but I will probably have sandwiches I have brought with me.
- I'd like to have a bought lunch one day but will have cup of noodles at least 2 days. These are my current favourites.
DINNER
- I am a big fan of these pouch meals. With some boil in the bag rice, you get a decent filling meal. I will be having chicken curry and chili con carne.
SNACKS
- Stock up on that deal at Asda
- I have also got cereal bars like these Brunch bars
- I really like Asda's small packs of Jelly Babies which are in their 5 for £1 offer.
DRINKING
- We will fill up with free tap water whenever possible. If you want flavour then one of these will not take up much weight
- We will pass by some shops so you can buy stuff there. I might treat myself to some fresh fruit juice.
- For a hot drink, I like to use instant coffee sachets. I use 2 for 1 big cup. It saves faffing about with milk and sugar.
- Alcohol is incredibly expensive and our weak currency only makes it worse. Even duty free is very dear. Check the 'deals' at this link. I will splash out though on a 6 pack. I'll bring a hip flask from home too.
I reckon we will need 3 days worth of food. Here's the sort of thing I'd do myself:
SUNDAY
Breakfast - cup of coffee and some oat biscuits at airport plus nibbles on plane
Lunch - sandwiches I brought day before at Tesco
Dinner - Chili Con Carne & rice
MONDAY
Breakfast - cup of coffee and some oat biscuits
Lunch - Cup of noodles
Dinner - Buy pizza
TUESDAY
Breakfast - cup of coffee and some oat biscuits
Lunch - Buy hot dog or burger
Dinner - Chicken Tikka & rice
WEDNESDAY
Breakfast - Fancy breakfast of sausage & mash
Lunch - Cup of noodles
Dinner - Couscous with pepperami
THURSDAY
Breakfast - coffee & oat biscuits
The above would be supplemented by stuff like nuts, cereal bars, chocolate bars, jelly babies, etc. I might buy some fresh fruit juice and skyr over there but I'd bring everything else with me.
